When you look at the employment statistics for most of the major cities across North America you will see that healthcare is one of the top job markets. As the baby boomer generation starts to enter their later years and medical technology continues to advance the need for qualified doctors and nursing is only increasing. There are opportunities to specialize in anxiety Toronto based or to be a pediatric nurse here in California. California State is doing their best to answer the nursing shortage with their Code Blue program. Here is more about this amazing opportunity and why it may be time to trade in working in a fire sleeve factory in favor of a rewarding career as a registered nurse.

There is now a shortage of about 20,000 nurses in the State of California alone and this number is expected to rise to more than 50,000 in the next ten years. This state is currently ranked last for the number of nurses working per capita and that needs to change. One of the major issues is that there is not enough room in the state's nursing schools to handle the current demand and the number of applicants. About forty percent of the people applying out of high school or who are looking to switch career from something like electronic circuit design are being turned away before they even have a chance to study. Because of the additional fees of properly educating nursing students, like lab fees and clinical supplies, it is not cost efficient for most programs to consider expansion.

This is why the nursing program has become one of the top priorities for the California State University Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation. They are hoping to infuse more than ten million dollars into the program that will help with some of these costs. This school also offers the "entry-level" Masters program in nursing, which is meant for students with a bachelor's degree that's not in nursing. While these students might not have a nursing background they can't just apply from an English language school Canada based. There is a long list of prerequisite courses that need to be completed before starting the program, including anatomy, statistics, and psychology.

Cal State Fullerton is already headed in the right direction when it comes to expanding and improving their current programs. A grant from UnitedHealth Group for two million dollars recently allowed them to accept an additional 120 new students to their two nursing programs. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation also donated $200,000 so that the school is able to offer an additional 20 scholarships to incoming students. This should help with those that one day want to work with organic diapers as a pediatric nurse or those that want the fast-paced life of an triage nurse.
